AAU(Addis Ababa University)Yonas Admasu (PhD. Assoc. Professor) passes away

Dr. Yonas Admasu, Associate Professor at the Department of Ethiopian Languages and Literature, Addis Ababa University, has passed away on 8 February, 2013 at the age 70.

Dr. Yonas was born on 15 November, 1942 in Addis Ababa. He has church education prior to joining formal education at Kokebe Tsibah when he was nine.

Dr. Yonas earned BA degree from the then Addis Ababa University College in 1967 and started teaching at the University College the following year. He then moved to the United States of America to pursue graduate studies at the University of California Los Angeles where he also taught in his later years. He earned MA degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Socio-Linguistics) in 1970 and another MA degree in African Studies Programme and a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of California Los Angeles.

Dr. Yonas has served Addis Ababa University at different capacities: teaching, research, different senior management positions, and as member of the University Senate.

Funeral services were held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church on 10 February, 2013, 2:00 pm.
